camp wapameo for birds

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Ann Wood sent her stitched birds to camp Wapameo and shared the photos on her blog.

The campers are rex, finn, minter, liney, ashley, jane, betsy, flora, and georgie.

I really enjoyed visiting her blog. She makes delightful things.

this camp looks really nice. i am sure noah would have enjoyed it, and it’s a pitty he wouldnt be able to go there, because i am looking for some kind of occupation for him for the last two weeks of summer vacation. usually i would have spent that time with him doing all sorts of things together and going places, but i am a little tied down now because of the baby. I’ve thought about it a little too late, but i am looking for something for him to do. i have nothing against doing nothing. In fact, I practice that most of my life, but i don’t want him to rot infront of the tv for two weeks, and that’s what will happen if i don’t enroll him to some sort of activity.

r.i.p. whirlpool

Monday, July 28th, 2008

this is noah standing near the remains of our old washing machine. it broke when the baby was born and we bought a new one with a digital display and a timer and automatic weight. it actually weighs the laundry and knows how much water to use. unbelievable!

any way, noah helped james disassemble the washing machine so james can take it down the stairs. he enjoyed it so much i didn’t say a word about the time. it was way past his bed time.

two days past due date

i had another acupuncture session with nadav today. this time nadav used more needles and tried to induce labor. he said that now i look ready for labor other than that i drank castor oil. this is not a very nice experience, but i expected worse. this is also supposed to induce labor. noah is at home with a high fever and we watch alot of tv together. there are some new good kids shows which i rather enjoy. i have to go be with noah now, i’ll try to come back later with interesting stuff.

the story of little babaji

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

noah asked me to read him “the story of little babaji” by hellen bannerman illustrated by fred marcellino. this is one of my favorite books. i love both the plot and the wonderful illustrations. when i saw it at the shop it gave me goosebumps. not only because it is so beautiful, but also because i suddenly understood that this is a version of a book my mother told me she had and loved as a child.

the original story was called “little black sambo” and it was first published in 1899. along the years the original version of the book was deemed racial and thus changed.

week 39

went to see my doctor today. the baby still wont budge. he’s getting big, so he’s got to get out soon or he’ll be too big for me to give birth vaginally. i will tell him later today that he may now come out. I didn’t want him to come out before, but now I understand that he has to. I will try and instruct him on how to do that properly.

so I think he’ll probably be born tomorrow or by tuesday. contractions haven’t started yet, but i can arrange for them to start later today, with the power of my mind. i am not joking, so maybe i’m a little naive or even stupid.

can’t have them start before tonight because Noah has invited me today to an open music class, to celebrate the end of the season. He really loves this class and it’s very important for him and for me that I come see it.

Other than that, it’s euro 2008 final tonight and James wants to watch it with friends.

37 weeks pregnant

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

I told Noah that the baby is coming real soon and he replied very formally “thank you for letting me know, mother”. I love his responses. Ironically, I’m most proud when he gives me a cheeky answer. Not that this was the case at this instance.

I have my gynecologist appointment tomorrow. I want to hear what she has to say. Last pregnancy I had to undergo a c-section because the labor wasn’t progressing properly. The doctor will tell me tomorrow what my chances are of delivering this baby naturally. if they are low, I will have to schedule an elective c-section. Funny that it’s elective, seeing that I might not have a choice.

Other than that, I opened the day at La Bonne Patisserie. I wanted to order the Opera cake - a chocolate layered cake with a golden ornaments on top, but the owner didn’t let me. She said I will feel to heavy afterwards and restricted me to a brioche. Gotta love these girls!

I have to put fresh batteries in my camera so I can start posting stuff I see during my day.

Not enough personal posts, in my opinion, so I’ll force myself.

Friday morning James and I go to Le Bonne Patisserie for croissants and such. Yesterday we took Noah with us. He wasn’t sick any longer, but we decided to keep him at home until Sunday. It was funny, because there was a woman there complaining to the waitress that she was served a croissant without a knife and fork. This was not the only thing she was complaining about, but this was the most remarkable I think. There are always funny things going on there, because the people who come to Bazel Square are pompous asses. Not including myself, of course.

In the evening we went to dinner at my parents house and had a wonderful meal as usual. Noah fell asleep in the car, so it was even quiet and relaxed. What a nasty mom I am. I took loads of food home from them, so I don’t have to cook this week.

Last thing I can write about is rearranging the house. We put some nice old shelves we got from Aya and filled them with all our stuff and I believe the house is going to improve now after this. Like Noah pointed out this week, we are still missing some pictures on the wall.

Noah IS sick

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Well, I was wrong. Apparently the kid is still sick. He has a high fever and I’m afraid he caught whatever all the other kids at the kindergarten had the past few weeks. A mixture of eye, stomach and ear ailments. Poor thing. I’m trying to make an appointment to his doctor for tomorrow morning, but the stupid service doesn’t answer.

damn! I think I heard that beeping again! There’s a weird beeping every now again in the neighborhood. I’ve taken a few strolls to try and find the source of this random beeping (random times, random rhythms) but I couldn’t find it. It can’t be stopped until someone finds out the source!!!

Oh, I made those Cinnamon pretzels I wrote about the other day. Not very interesting, but it’s always nice to have something freshly baked at home. They didn’t turn out so pretty, so no photo.

Noah’s not sick anymore

He woke up healthy and happy, but I let him stay at home one more day to be on the safe side.
