noah’s birthday is coming up

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

i have started planning noah’s birthday which is in a little more than a month. believe me, it’s not too soon.

every year we just hang at the park and have a great time. but i can’t rely on things to just flow anymore. he’s going to be 5 now. he’s seen a birthday or two in his life. i need a plan!

a good step towards a plan was to choose a theme. i’ve decide on “the final frontier” (thanks for the suggestions, friends). it’s either that or the human body. but the space thing seems easier and is very nice. i’ve found some good suggestion in family fun.

i need to come up with activities, make a guest list, buy materials and goodies, design a cake, prepare invitations etc…

here’s the cake i made last year:

i think it’s not bad. i go for simple and cute.

books i read noah tonight

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

tonight i read noah two stories.

the first one was “mozart, the little wizard” by anna obiols. one of the books i purchased recently to refresh noah’s library.

it tells the story of the magic flute and it comes with a cd so you can listen to pieces corresponding with the storyline.

he got the second book from aya’s kids along with many more they grew out of.

“no matter what” by debi gilori was so moving, i started crying (tonight was the first time we read it).

towards the end of the story, the little fox asks it’s mother:

“‘But what about when we’re dead and gone,
would you love me then, does love go on?’

and she explains to him:

“Love, like starlight, never dies.’”

Package from Tilted Tulip

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

A short while ago I’ve ordered some items from Tilted Tulip.

Yesterday Noah and I went to pick up the package from the post office:

Noah said it’s just like a treasure chest because of the shiny pins: a kiwi hatpin, a kangaroo hatpin, a seal pin and an apple pin Erika added a seasonal gift, which was so nice of her.

(I didn’t post pictures of the rest of the things that were in the package because they didn’t come out nice in my photos)

Huge

I could write about so many things…

I could write about the black Rosa Mosa boots (Andrea) I bought this week

I could write about the order I made from The Tilted Tulip

I could write about my visit to my acupuncturist, but I’ve already written about that (nothing’s really changed there except the order of the posters on the wall and that’s because not many people like staring at male genitalia during treatment)

I could write about the smart things Noah says (but is it really smart to tell your mother she’s as chubby as a bear?)

I will also not write about the tragic toys set I got from Aya nor about Owly the book I got from Noni which were both bought at the same store

I could write about so many things but I don’t

because I have a HUGE HEADACHE!

things that happen when you forget

I forgot Noah’s bag at the kindergarten before Sukkot Holiday.

I don’t remember packing this in his lunch box.

something you never wanna hear

Monday, September 8th, 2008

As a breastfeeding mom, it’s inevitable that my breasts be exposed at one time or the other.

When my baby wants to eat, I don’t care if we’re alone at the privacy of my bedroom or in the middle of a crowded mall, I’m gonna take it out and feed him.

I tried all sorts of methods to conceal myself while breastfeeding outside, like wearing a few layers of clothes so that most of my upper body is hidden, but I do live in a warm country, and when I say warm, I mean hot like hell, and when you’re dripping sweat, you don’t want to wear much more than basically nothing.

What I’m trying to get to is the fact that James Noah and baby Uri, of course, are all exposed to my breasts on a daily basis.

For those of you who are jeleous I wanna say: Don’t be. It’s not a pretty sight…

Noah is so sweet, smart, talkative and full of ideas. I love it when he speaks his mind. But no woman should EVER have to hear her son, or any other person, for that matter, saying:

“wow, mom! you have such LONG breasts!”.

I did not expect that, and although I can find humor in almost everything in life, I can tell you that this is something a woman NEVER needs to hear.

Even when it’s coming from her adorable loving four year old.

productive kids

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Today Noah won an Olympic medal for some very impressive jumps on the sofa.

He needed a place to rest so we made a tent out of beddings, chairs, pillows and an excersise mattress.
From the tent he had a very good view to the tv and watched about 3000 road runner cartoons.

Noah wasn’t the only productive kid in the house today.

Baby Uri made me a very proud mother today for having pooped at least three times. It has a very nice yellowy color, i have to say.

Uri deserves a new title: Colonel Mustard.

btw, i’m going to add an additional letter to Uri’s name. actually two. In hebrew it’s just one.

More about that some other time.

the wise little hen

Noah loves watching old Disney cartoons. He had his Pluto phase and he’s now into Donald Duck vs. Chip and Dale, but not exclusively.

These days we enjoy watching “the wise little hen”. it’s a “silly symphony” cartoon and it’s the first appearance Donald Duck ever made, so he’s looking kind of odd. He went through a few modifications since.
