37 weeks pregnant

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

I told Noah that the baby is coming real soon and he replied very formally “thank you for letting me know, mother”. I love his responses. Ironically, I’m most proud when he gives me a cheeky answer. Not that this was the case at this instance.

I have my gynecologist appointment tomorrow. I want to hear what she has to say. Last pregnancy I had to undergo a c-section because the labor wasn’t progressing properly. The doctor will tell me tomorrow what my chances are of delivering this baby naturally. if they are low, I will have to schedule an elective c-section. Funny that it’s elective, seeing that I might not have a choice.

Other than that, I opened the day at La Bonne Patisserie. I wanted to order the Opera cake - a chocolate layered cake with a golden ornaments on top, but the owner didn’t let me. She said I will feel to heavy afterwards and restricted me to a brioche. Gotta love these girls!

I have to put fresh batteries in my camera so I can start posting stuff I see during my day.

Noah IS sick

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Well, I was wrong. Apparently the kid is still sick. He has a high fever and I’m afraid he caught whatever all the other kids at the kindergarten had the past few weeks. A mixture of eye, stomach and ear ailments. Poor thing. I’m trying to make an appointment to his doctor for tomorrow morning, but the stupid service doesn’t answer.

damn! I think I heard that beeping again! There’s a weird beeping every now again in the neighborhood. I’ve taken a few strolls to try and find the source of this random beeping (random times, random rhythms) but I couldn’t find it. It can’t be stopped until someone finds out the source!!!

Oh, I made those Cinnamon pretzels I wrote about the other day. Not very interesting, but it’s always nice to have something freshly baked at home. They didn’t turn out so pretty, so no photo.

Relaxing Friday morning

Friday, June 6th, 2008

James and I started the morning as usual at La Bonne Patisserie, the most excellent new cafe at Bazel Square. I didn’t order a Croissant, for a change, but instead took a Bruschetta. Having a Bruschetta at a French patisserie is like having a Croissant at an Italian Cafe. It’s not bad or anything, but it is far from the real deal. After that, I ordered a nice Chocolate Eclair, which, ofcourse, was very good. They can’t go wrong, in that place.

Near the Cafe, someone was handing out the new Kinley Lemon-Nana mint. It’s very refreshing!

I saw a few nice things in Boing Boing today.

longstocking Pretzels

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Noah adores Pippi Longstocking and so do I. Pippi is my hero.

He really enjoys Astrid Lingren’s book Do you know Pippi Longstocking? with Ingrid Nyman’s pretty little illustrations.

Here’s a link to buy the book in Hebrew, translated by Tamar Shalmon. Very strange translation, might I add. Partly very good, but with some odd quirks. Btw, when I try to write in Hebrew, I get question marks. I’ll ask James what to do.

Pippi bakes Cinnamon cookies

This drawing depicting Pippi making more than 500 cinnamon cookies on her kitchen floor, really stirs my appetite and I promised Noah I’d make him some. I’m aiming for the Pretzels. I see in the picture she uses also almonds and raisins and I found a recipe with all those ingredients. I hope it’s good.

Here’s the recipe for Cinnamon Raisin Soft Pretzels from Kaboose. I picked it up randomly from google. but it seems good, so I decided to give it a try.
