zhu yunwei writes:
I took two pictures of each person - one with opened eyes,
the other with closed eyes. I then integrated the two pictures into
one portrait, resulting in the calm but unnatural expressions
seen here.

i was trying to remember what sally mann’s work reminded me of and my kind reader, yotam, suggested it was jack radcliffe.

he was right.

radcliffe documented his daughter’s life from infancy to adulthood. he writes:

…Alison permitting me access to private moments of our life, which might, under different circumstances, be off-limits to a parent. The camera, early in her life, became part of our relationship…

…I wanted to photograph her in all her extremes, and to be part of these times in her life without judging or censoring…

The dog photo booth by Sharon Montrose

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

I had a really difficult time trying to choose which photos I should post. Then I did the fatal mistake of visiting her website. Sharon Montrose has the most amazing dog photos I have ever seen.

She also has a baby section and a family section. But I have to admit these were a little too much for me. (Except for the little blond curly kid feeding the ducks at the pond. He reminded me of my little Noah)

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Roadside Scholar always finds the most beautiful things. This time she featured in her blog the amazing dioramas of Laura Plankser, A Los Angeles based photographer.

From her website:

Laura continues trying to create a photo-diorama that one day she might crawl into and never return.

(My favorite is the unlucky bunny)

I love these dioramas!!!! Thanks, Gigi!
